Day 162 of 365: Djoko !!!

Just before the French Open started, the permutations were King of Clay; Rafael Nadal would be up against my favourite player Novak Djokovic in the semifinals. The only thing I could do was pray someone knocked Nadal out before the semis. It didn’t happen, because they both made it to that stage and I couldn’t bring myself to watch the tie.

The only thing going for Djokovic was that he had won one game more than Nadal in the 57 games they have played against each other with Djokovic winning 29 and Rafa boasting of 28 victories. We are however talking about clay court tennis here and it was always hard to beat Nadal on clay. At the French Open Nadal had lost only twice before tonight’s match up with Djokovic.

Rafa won the first set of this semifinal game 6:3 before Djokovic rallied to win 3 straight sets (6:3, 7:6, 6:2) to beat the Spaniard to the final of the Roland Garros. Novak will now play  Greek-born Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final on Sunday. Tsitsipas beat  Alexander Zverev 6:3, 6:3, 6:4, 6:4, 6:3 in today’s other semifinal.

Djokovic has now won 30 games in 50 against Nadal.

All hail King Djokovic.

CHEERS!!!
