Basketball : Best 10 There Was, Best 10 There Is

Oh you never thought I liked basketball? I did, still do. I am 6ft 3 inches for crying out loud so I guess it’s natural I love the sport. Just clowning jare I am sure not all tall people like basketball. Moving on , Basketball is one of the few sports I am allowed to be a slut. As in I change teams at will and this occurs whenever my favourite player retires or trade teams. For instance I have supported every team Shaquille O’neal has played in and now I support the Oklahoma City Thunder because of Kevin Durant. Before I became a fan of Shaquille Oneal’s Orlando Magic I used to be a fan of the Houston Rockets and I am sure you all know it’s because of the Nigerian born Hakeem ‘The Dream’ Olajuwon. I became a Shaquille O’neal fan thanks to Dozman and Big Yomz, remember them? Yea the peeps that got me addicted to the Manchester United religion. I heard them brag about and saw them watch this huge man (320lbs and 7ft 1inch).
So I followed Shaq all through his playing career from Orlando Magic to LA Lakers to Miami Heat to Phoenix Suns to Cleveland Cavaliers up until he retired at the Boston Celtics winning 3 NBA titles with LA Lakers and 1 with Miami Heat making a total of 4 NBA championship rings. Why do I like Shaq Diesel? Nothing special, he’s usually if not always the biggest player on the court, that alone is a THRILL. There have been many great players of this beautiful sport which was made popular in the United States and some of them are; Michael ‘His Royal Airness’ Jordan whom many regarded as the greatest of all times, Earvin ‘Magic’ Johnson, Larry Bird, Hakeem Olajuwon, Wilt ‘The Stilt Chamberlain (never saw a clip of him but heard stories) etc but I will like to share my own best ten to have graced the sport and my best 10 currently playing. Find below my list :
Best Ten There Was:
10. Doyin Ogun
9. Scottie Pippen
8. John Stockton
7. Karl ‘The Mailman’ Malone
6. Anfernee ‘Penny’ Hardaway
5. Hakeem Olajuwon
4. Magic Johnson
3. Larry Bird
2. Michael Jordan
1. Do I still need to mention his name? Okay o, it’s Shaquille O’neal
I saw majority of these players play, it was just Larry Bird and Magic Johnson I hardly got to see much of. And yes you read the number 10 name right. My big bro was a monster and he represented the University of Ife at the NUGA games and the West African Universities Basketball games winning all shades of medals. I saw him play well and the basketball rims inside LUTH can attest to how mean he was to them. Hell of a player he was. I know I will get sticks for this list but I could be lynched for the next list.
Find below my best 10 currently playing the game:
Best Ten There Is:
10. Tim Duncan (San Antonio Spurs)
9. Dirk Nowitzki (Dallas Mavericks)
8. Pau Gasol (LA Lakers)
7. Kevin Garnet (Brooklyn Nets)
6. Amare Stoudemire (New York Knicks)
5. Dwight Howard (Houston Rockets)
4. Dwayne Wade (Miami Heat)
3. Russell Westbrook (Oklahoma City Thunder)
2. Lebron James (Miami Heat)
1. Kevin Durant (Oklahoma City Thunder)
There you have. Yes Kevin Durant is the best player in the NBA. No Kobe? Yea no Kobe Bryant. You don’t feud with my best ever player (Shaquille) and get away with it. After Shaq left the LA Lakers (where himself and Kobe were team mates) they met 11 times and Shaq holds the bragging rights of 7 victories to Kobe’s 4. Though Kobe out scored Shaq in every meeting *covers face*. I think the beef has been squashed and I also read some where about Shaq stating Kobe deserved to be the NBA’s MVP in 2007 or was it 2008? Can’t remember and I am too lazy to research.
Feel free to criticize these lists. Ar5ena1 how market nah? I told a friend before the game against Liverpool on Saturday that I don’t care anymore if my beloved Man Utd doesn’t make it to the UCL or Europa league next season as long as Assnal ends up trophyless this season. Slap the two of us no go win this season. #Okbye
Thanks for your time people. Stay blessed and have a fabulous week ahead.
