I saw my favourite football Nation play last night and boy was I proud. The 1st half of the match scared me to be honest but they pulled through in style hammering the Montenegrins 4-1 in a World Cup qualifying match played in Wembley. Oh you are shocked I support England? Well I do and it’s not because of Wayne Rooney because I started following the 3 lions as they are otherwise known in 2002 just before the World Cup in Korea and Japan.
The game was a must win for both sides with Ukraine who had also beaten Poland earlier hoping it ended in a draw. United’s Wayne Rooney scored 1st before an own goal from a Montenegro defender doubled the scores England. Montenegro however pulled a goal back to add flavor to game and make scores 2-1. Man of the match by far and debutant for the Lions Andros Darryl Townsend scored a wonderful goal to make it 3-1. Townsend was a shock inclusion in England’s first XI, well for me it was and he shut my mouth up for the whole 80minutes of the game. The last time a player shut me up was when Wayne Rooney made his Manchester United debut against Fenerbache in the 2004 Champions league game where he bagged a hatrick. Daniel Sturridge the most in form English striker (hate to admit this though) scored from the spot to make scores 4-1 and guarantee England a place in the play-offs. England will qualify for the World Cup holding in Brazil next year if they beat Poland on Tuesday night. The Polish squad have nothing to lose because win or lose they can’t make it to Brazil next year, well only as spectators.
My boys are not there yet but they sure will qualify and please watch our for them. Shout out to Steven Gerard and Frank Lampard on playing 55 games together for England.
Thanks again and enjoy the rest of he weekend……………… BLESS !!!
Best England performance in a long while! One or both of Gerard and Lampard have to be let go for Carrick, Wilshere and Cleverly though…..served admirably but they are holding the team back. Welbeck should only be played as a striker as he contributes nothing from the left…..has to be on the bench because Sturridge way ahead of him right now. On to Tuesday and fingers crossed we can book our plane tickets to Rio!
Well said bro…………..
