Yes you heard it from me first, Wayne Rooney would be named player of the month for January. Rooney apparently started the season in appalling fashion with people airing their opinion on the 30 year old Manchester United striker’s form, some went as far as saying he’s finished goods. Rooney sits pretty in third position as regards the all time leading scorers of the Premier League (he’s scored more goals before the age of 30 than any other striker in EPL history). Before the turn of the new year Wayne Rooney had scored just 2 goals in the league, which is a terrible return for a player that earns 300k pounds a week but I think he’s human and these things happen. As we know Eden Hazard scored his first goal in the 2015/2016 season for Chelsea in the 5-1 drubbing of MK Dons in the FA Cup on the 31st of January, 2016.
Wazza as Rooney is fondly called started the new year in style scoring 6 goals in 6 games. He scored a goal against Swansea in United’s 2-1 home win, he found the back of the net from the penalty spot against Sheffield Wernesday which also happened to be the only goal of the game. He bagged a brace against Newcastle United in one of the games of the season which ended 3-3, he also scored the lone goal against Liverpool. He however was no where to be found when Man Utd lost to Southampton (2nd straight home loss to the Saints) but found his scoring boots again when United beat Derby County in a 4th round FA Cup tie.
Is Rooney back? That I don’t know but my favourite Manchester United player is the reason why LVG still has a job and why United have not gone below 5th on the table. His goals have mattered and I am sure there are more to come. Stay Tuned.
It would be injustice if Wayne Rooney isn’t handed the EPL’s Player of the Month gong for the month of January.
Thanks for your time guys and do have a wonderful week and stay BLESSED.
