Yea I know it’s taken too long to put out this post and I apologize. The European football season is in full gear now as all the top 5 leagues have started their race to May 2016 where we would know the league winners, the Champions league and Europa league qualifiers and those that would be relegated. My top 4 predictions last season were not accurate but I predicted 4 league winners out of the 5 leagues with the Spanish La Liga the part I faltered in. This season is going to be pretty difficult because while the big boys feel comfortable because of their status the so called lower sides seem to have started on an impressive note. Imagine Leicester City, Swansea City and Crystal Palace (no pun intended) sitting pretty in the top 4 of the English Premier League. It is early days though and only time will tell and if you ask me it’s good for the listed teams to gather all the points they can now so as to avoid fighting relegation come 2016.
Before the season kicked off, Arsenal had won The Asia Barclay’s Premier League Trophy, The Emirates Cup and The Community Shield to show they could be title contenders (being hearing this since 2005). A few of my friends tagged Arsenal overwhelming favourites to win the EPL after the capture of Petr Cech from Chelsea but they were quick to switch lanes when the Gunners got thrashed 2-0 at home by Slaven Bilic’s West Ham on the opening day of the season and who caused them the game? You would not have been wrong if you said Petr Cech. Two errors two goals conceded. Manchester United had a bright start to the season too but Swansea dimmed the light last weekend and defending champions Chelsea have been erratic so far, 1 win, 2 losses and a draw. Man City has to be the best team in the whole of Europe so far with four league games played and all four games won with no goals conceded. That’s what potential title winners are made of.
Barcelona might have a 100% win rate so far but not convincing though Real Madrid isn’t high up there for me personally and that’s because Rafa Benitez is at the helm of affairs. I respect him but I don’t think he’s the one for Real Madrid. Borrusia Dortmund would probably give Bayern Munich a run for their money this season and you just have to give it to new coach Thomas Tuchel. France doesn’t look negotiable as I expect P.S.G to reign supreme and as for the Serie A, defending champions Juventus have lost both games played this season (their worst start to a season) but would still hand them this season’s title because they would be back at the top as soon as the team gels. Look out for Inter Milan and Roma too.
Now I have decided to call on a few friends and family to share with us their top 4 predictions in Europe’s top 5 leagues (English Premiership, Italian Serie A, Spanish La Liga, German Bundesliga and the French Ligue Un) for the 2015/16 season and just like last time out there is a female (Tomi) in the mix.
