Top 15 Songs of 2015

Hello guys, we have gotten to that part of the year where I share my favourite songs of the year and as the drill goes 15 songs will make my list. The year opened with some smashing singles as expected and it sure was difficult narrowing all the awesome songs released in 2015 into a list of 15 tracks. I am sure there is a possibility of having 2015 songs on the list and it still will have flaws. Please remember I stated it is my top 15 songs of 2015 so pardon me if it does not cut it for you. Thank you you in advance.

15. The Money (Davido ft Olamide): I wonder how these dudes don’t burn out, they work too hard and they always ensure their fans get top quality songs. I am hoping they have an album together sometime soon. The Money is a banger any time any day and three times on Sunday.

14. Reggae Blues (Mr Songz ft Olamide, KCee, Orezi and Iyanya): this is one song I heard months after it was released, before listening to the song I had this colleague that was always singing the chorus and I did not like it one bit. The moment I found out Olamide was on the track it became a favourite for me. Nice song and the cast seemed right.

13. Fans Mi (Davido ft Meek Mill): I am not a big fan of Nigerians doing collabos with Americans because it always seem like the featured artistes does not drop lines according to the message the song is trying to pass but this is an exception. Not only because I am a big Davido fan but the song actually is something you can buck to making you forget about the lyrics spat.

12. Gbese (Lil Kesh): an Olamide protégé and no surprise he’s on the list. Gbese is a good dance jam and for me Lil Kesh is easily the next big thing in Naija music.

11. Lagos Boys (Olamide): a third Olamide joint on the chart. Do we have to keep spelling out how good this guy is? I figured.

10. Karashika (Falz ft Phyno and Chigurl): Falz is truly the bahd guy. I think his album (Stories That Touch) is the only album released this year that can go head to head with Olamide’s Eyan Mayweather in terms of picking the best album released in 2015. This Karashika song is one hell of a jam and Phyno and Chigurl made it super sweet.

9. Kabiyesi (Dr Sid): Dr. Sid will always drop that one single that will keep you on the dance floor. Kabiyesi is a song I can have on replay all day and the video was very good too.

8. Wish Me Well (Timi Dakolo): a song produced by Cobhams needs no introduction. Timi was a beast on this one.  A very powerful song I must add which comes off his Love and Consequence album.

7. My Woman, My Everything (Patoranking ft Wande Coal): Patoranking I must say is going to be around for a while because his style is unique and for now competition is none. Who else do you feature on a track like this other than Wande Coal. Both artiste made a monster out of this hit.

6. Asimapeyin (Wande Coal): the Black Diamond totally killed this track, no one could have done it better. For me Wande Coal is the best vocalist in the country. Sick beats and the video was just right.

5.  Melo Melo (Olamide): is there anything Olamide touches that does not turn to gold? Melo Melo is not the type of song I expected from Olamide, the melody was so slow and Olamide still jumped on it and killed it. He’s surely Nigeria’s best artiste at the moment.

4. Raba (Dj Shabsy ft ShugaBoy & Kiss Daniel): now this song for me is a song that I like for no particular reason. Nice beat and the lyrics  was on point. Lo tori mi lo je gbese. And thanks to my guys Qunle and O’Larry, I wouldn’t have discovered this song. I barely listen to the radio except if I want to listen to Front Page News and Analysis and Sports Express on Classic fm, Sports Yarn on Naija fm and when I am in transit and I missing a football game I tune into Brilla fm. So Qunle was always raving about the song and O’Larry sent it me via bbm. It’s been stuck on my playlist ever since. Now you people made me add football gist into what I wanted to make purely musical, hehehehe. And no I am not getting paid for mentioning those radio stations (wish I was).

3.GODWin (Korede Bello): another hit that got us singing along from beginning to end. The Mavin star introduced himself with this monster hit (after the Dorobucci craze) though I have not been a big fan of his follow up singles but with Don Jazzy you are in good hands. Korede Bello should come good in the nearest future.

2. Duro (Tekno): the first time I heard this song it was a hit for me but barely heard it after that first day. A trip to Abeokuta and my man iBee had this song on replay for about 30 minutes. Getting back to Lagos Duro was the only song gushing out of my mouth and the video is on point. This song will still be a hit next year.

1. Bobo (Olamide): this has to be the best song of 2015 without a shadow of doubt. Olamide the best Nigerian rapper over the last 4 years kills it with this track off his 5th studio album titled Eyan Mayweather. I don’t think there’s any song that rocked our airwaves as much as Bobo did this year. Even my boss knows how crazy I am about this song. Wo Bobo weyrey lo ba de #SongOfTheYearByMiles

There you have it, my top 15 songs of 2015. There are other songs I wish I could have added to the list and some of them are Soldier (Falz ft Simi), Ladi (Olamide and Phyno ft Lil Kesh), Efejoku (Lil Kesh), Igbeyawo (Oritsefemi), Gift (Iyanya ft Do Jazzy), Concur (Timaya ft Don Jazzy), Katapot (Reekado Banks), Jamb Question (Simi ft Falz), Don’t Stop (Olamide), Indomie (MasterKraft ft Olamide and CDQ), Simati Niya (Cynthia Morgan), Celebrity Girlfriend (Falz ft Reekado Banks), Give Thanks (Oritsefemi), Baby Abeg (Orezi) just to mention a few.

I was going to do my top ten albums of the year but I realized just 3 albums made the cut for me and they are Wande Coal’s Wanted, Olamide’s Eyan Mayweather and Falz’ Stories That Touch.

Thanks for your time guys and hope you are having fun this season. May the ALMIGHTY continually protect us and may 2016 bring us good tidings (Amen).
Happy Birthday to me, all I want for my birthday is a Play Station 4, Plenty Money, Good Health many more Birthdays and More of GOD.
