The Somerset Trip

The FA Cup took the Red Devils to the little town of Yeovil in Somerset. After the media frenzy on the arrival of Chilean born Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal in a deal which involved Armenian footballer of the year 2017 Henrik Mkhitaryan going the other way in a direct swap. Time will tell which of the two clubs got a better deal but if you asked me, I am not bothered about who’s deal was better as long as my beloved team is improved.
The Yeovil Town versus Manchester United game was one United had won before it was played. The worst that would have happened was Yeovil could have scored first but they still would have got beat. Alexis made his debut in this game and Michael Carrick made a return to first team football after a long time out due to injury. The Yeovil game was the least of my worries, it was a done deal the day the draws were announced. It was just a case of how many goals United would score.
Yeovil Town apparently proved stubborn by holding the Red Devils for long spells and were even close to scoring on a couple of occasions. Man United however got a goal in the 41st minute through Marcus Rashford and nearly got another before half time. United took a 1 nil lead to the break.

The second half was mostly about the Red Devils and in the 61st minute Alexis set Ander Herrera up with a pass that led to a second goal. Boom game over and it was as if Jose Mourinho read my mind. We are going to Wembley on Wednesday night to play against Tottenham in a league match so our key players needed rest so he subbed Alexis for Jesse Lingard though he had already brought Romelu Lukaku on earlier for Juan Mata. I however was not expecting him to field Lingard and Lukaku at all but Mourinho knows best. JLingz and Romelu however wrapped up the victory scoring in 89th and 3rd minute of extra time consecutively. Game ended 4-0.

Alexis wasn’t fantastic on his debut but we can start with the assist he had. We await the draws for the next round.
Have a great week ahead.
