Day 48 of 365: My Proudest Moment in Secondary School

I went to Lagos State Model College, Igbonla in Epe. One of the most interesting times of my life. When it was time to get a house as par Inter House Sport parlance, I got Green despite my cousin’s efforts in ensuring I got Yellow. Yellow House was the best at the time as they were mostly first at the end of the Inter House Sport events. Green usually came last.

Green picked last position for about 3 years straight but all the last and second to the last posting changed under my leadership. I was made House Captain of Green House in SS 2 and really I didn’t think I was up to it but the backing of my guys in the house made sure I succeeded.

Now some events were already in the bag for my house. 100 meters 200 meters and 4 x 100m relay (Senior boys) gold was ours for the taking because we had the fastest and second fastest lads in the school at that time in Green House. Shout out to Ginto and Dr. Yaz. My cousin too had the Shot Put and discus events in the bag during the Heat and she even held the record for Shot Put many years (that’s if it has been broken).

Green House came first overall in my time and I still remember the feeling after I was handed the trophy for our feat. Definitely one of the best times of my life. I don’t know if Green House has been able to replicate that feat or better it but I take pride in being the honcho at my last ever Inter House Sport event.

You see, I didn’t make mention of football today even though it was one of the events I participated in during the Heats. Others were javelin and long jump.

Sai Gobe. CHEERS!!!
