Arsenal's Unbeaten Run Ends, Spurs Break Old Trafford Jinx………………………..

All good things must come to an end. Arsenal have been brought back to earth(yeah baby!!!) . They were beaten 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium by their fierce rivals Chelsea. I didn’t really see anything special about this Chelsea side though the individual brilliance of Oscar and Eden Hazard was something I noticed on the day. Arsenal played some good footie too, but couldn’t get(into the right places) enough goals to win the game. How did Torres score Chelsea’s 1st goal? I really won’t blame Koscielny for the goal though. I think the Arsenal marking was generally poor. Arsenal’s equaliser was a clinical finish by Gervinho. Perfect positioning by the Ivorian allowed him pick his spot before unleashing a shot to the top right corner of Petr Cech’s goal. An own goal by Koscielny from a Chelsea freekick ensured the Blues left the Emirates stadium with all 3 points.
Totenham Hotspurs beat Man Utd 3-2 at Old Trafford to record their 1st victory at the Theatre of Dreams. Gary Lineker’s winner for Spurs against United in 1989 was the last time the Lily whites won on this ground. Before this loss ,Man Utd boasted of 54 points out of a possible 60 in this fixture. The Red Devils were annihilated in the 1st half of this game. A superb run by Venthorgen gave Spurs a 1-0 lead in less than 4 minutes and Gareth Bale added a 2nd, with a solo run from like 40 yards. The 2nd half started well for United and they got a goal through Nani. The celebration was cut short by a Clint Dempsey goal almost immediately to make scores 3-1 in favour of Spurs.. Shinji Kagawa then pulled one goal back for United but it wasn’t enough to have at least tied the game. The Spurs lads’ used their pace well and this really affected United’s play. I really don’t know why Giggs started that match but the damage has been done. Our defence is understaffed(injuries et al), which was my major concern before the season started.
Shitty came from a goal down to beat Fulham 2-1. A dubious penalty converted by Petric gave Fulham the lead at Craven Cottage. Kun Aguero leveled for City and Dzeko scored the winner for Man City just 60 seconds after coming on.  Everton also came  from a goal down to beat Southampton 3-1. Newcastle forced Reading to a 2-2 draw at the Madjeski stadium, Stoke beat Swansea 2-0. Liverpool earned their 1st EPL victory by beating Norwich City 5-2(Suarez hatrick, I KNOW!!!) and Steven Fletcher continued his fine goal scoring form for Sunderland (his 5th league goal in 4 games). He scored the only goal of the game to give Sunderland a 1 nil victory over Wigan.
I still don’t like Barcelona, never have, never will. Did I say NEVER? Ok to be honest I liked them a bit during the Romario (one of my best ever players), Ronaldo de Lima and  Patrick Kluivert eras. I think Fabregas should be handed an Oscar or maybe an Emmy for his role in getting Gary Medel of Sevilla sent off in their La liga match yesterday. I used to respect the dude tho. In as much as I am not a Messi fan, I believe he wouldn’t have done what Fab did. That is that, they had the desire  to win and they won. Coming from 2 goals down to beat Sevilla 3-2. I think it is safe to say the league is Barca’s to lose. Madrid should just face the Champions league and Copa Del Rey squarely.
Juventus, Juventus, Juventus. 45 games unbeaten and they are looking stronger than last term. With the arrival of Lucio, Kwadoh Asamoah, Andrea Barzagli and the return from loan of Seb Giovinco would make the squad list of Juve make other teams shiver. Juventus are surely winning the league and they are one of the four sides (along with Man Utd, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich) I have tipped to win this season’s Champions league. Words cant explain how they devoured Roma on Saturday night. They beat the Totti led Roma 4-1 with goals from a Andrea Pirlo freekick, an Arturo Vidal penalty kick, Alessandro Matri and Sebastian Giovinco. Pablo Osvaldo got the consolatory goal for Roma from the penalty spot. Parma held A.C Milan to a 1-1 draw.
My predictions along with Big Yomz’ own were a far cry from the actual results of the EPL games. No perfect score recorded.
Congratulations to Spurs for ruining my weekend. I must say Andres Villas Boas is a good coach. He came with a tactic that worked well for his team(at least in the 1st half). It was simple, run at the United defence.
Thanks for your time folks. Happy Independence day to my Naija peeps all over the world. Do have a fabulous week ahead, filled with your creator’s blessings…………………..Cheers
