The Rams versus The Red Devils

My nephew is the only person I know right now that thinks the title race is not over. I mean he thinks Man City will slip up. We had the chat for about 20 minutes and he is like though Manchester City has the better squad in terms of quality and even quantity they will still drop points. I just said Tobs please let’s talk about tonight’s game against Derby County instead. He asked what my take on the game was and I said Man U would beat Derby and his response was Uncle Dipo so why aren’t you as optimistic in terms of our title chase. Sigh, I give up was all I could mutter. He is going to be 12. He’s beginning to become more of a fan than I am.
The Rams visited Old Trafford with 3 wins and 2 draws in their last 5 games which is a better run of form compared to United’s 1 loss, 1 win and 3 draws. The Red Devils however boast of a better head to head against Derby with 10 wins, 2 draws and 2 losses. Tonight’s game was an FA Cup 3rd round tie which was a tricky one judging by the Red Devil’s loss to Bristol City in the Carabao Cup in December. I wasn’t expecting anything short of victory though. I mean this is the only realistic chance of silverware because I know we aint winning the Champions League, well at least not this season. Glad to have Lukaku back but I didn’t even want him near the squad just yet. He should have been given a long rest. He didn’t start but that’s no consolation.

I saw the game at a lounge and it coincided with the Liverpool versus Everton match. I was able to watch the first half though in all fairness the Liverpool game was a derby hence making it a bigger game than ours. First half ended 0-0 and I was thinking what’s happening to my beloved team. I mean we were playing Derby County for crying out loud, why should it be difficult to take them out with our multi-million pound squad.

I didn’t catch a large part of the 2nd half. We had to watch the Liverpool game then switched channels back to the United game. The last 10 minutes of the Man U game was surely the best part of the game for me. Man United’s best player this season and our player of the month of December Jesse Lingards aka JLingz stepped up to be counted again as he put us ahead with a cracker of a goal before sub Romelu Lukaku wrapped the game up in the 1st minute of extra time to send the Red Devils into the 4th round of the Emirates FA Cup.
Thanks for your time guys. Have a lovely weekend.

How in God’s name didn’t I read about Martial assisting the goal for Lukaks ?
Your Nephew is not the only one, I strongly believe the league is not over just yet.
Who told you United can not win the champ league?
Each game with its own troubles, until we are out of the tournament we remain a favorite.
    Tanx
