I have been receiving bashings from friends, families and even girlfriends past because of my love for the perennial under-achievers the Three Lions of England. I have been a fan of this national team since the 2002 World Cup which was jointly hosted by South Korea and Japan (from the Brazil Vs England game precisely). I have been called the supporter of a mediocre team and that the World Cup they won in 1966 was staged blah blah blah. I take solace in if there are still Arsenal fans existing in this world then they should allow me be.
5 tournaments (we missed out on Euro 2008 narrowly) after I became a fan and there’s still nothing to show as a matter of fact the best showing for the English in these 5 tourneys past has been a quarter final appearance at both the Euro 2004 (in Portugal) and World Cup 2006 (in Germany), losing to Portugal on both occasions on penalties. Why have I still stood by this team I don’t know but now is not the time I will give up on them.
They face Russia in their first game of France 2016 on Saturday night June, 11 before taking on Wales and Slovakia in the final 2 games of Group B. Winning the first group game against Russia is a must win for England to have any chance of getting into the 2nd round. Will England beat Russia ? Yes they will. I am predicting an England win not because I support them but because Wayne Rooney has a point to prove you doubters, yes I repeat am you doubters who think he’s finished goods wrong.
