So I used to have this superstition when it came to matters about my favourite football club. Up until 2007 whenever I wore a Manchester United jersey on match day United always ended up losing the match. If I like I should wear it hours before the match or I should even wear it for just 5 mins as long as it is worn or thought to be worn we ended up losing. It stopped for a bit, between 2008 and 2016 precisely. These days I can’t be bothered.

So I consciously looked at the trend at which I watched my favourite teams at the just concluded Euro 2020. I realized all the games I saw at the comfort of my home were matches my favourite teams lost. Portugal lost to Germany though they were already losing 3:1 before I left the radio station that day. They also lost to Belgium in the 2nd round whilst watching at home laying on my couch. They were eliminated when they lost to Belgium. France lost to Switzerland after playing out a 3:3 draw in a thrilling tie which the Swiss side eventually won via penalties. I started the game at the office and wrapped it up at home.

Now those that know me well know the 3 Lions of England is/was my primary team. And both games they didn’t win; the goalless draw against Scotland and the 1:1 draw with Italy (which they eventually lost after penalties) were games I didn’t start them at home but wrapped up at my place.

The loss to Italy meant England continue their wait for a major trophy since their 1966 World Cup triumph. I may have jinxed it because I saw the final at home last night. Congratulations to Italy as the Euro 2020 trophy is going to Rome and not Home.

I should have just seen the game outside of my crib.

CHEERS!!!
