It was my beloved Manchester United’s biggest test in the league this season. A visit to Anfield to face Liverpool, the reigning league champions. United were on top of the league before kick-off and just a draw would have kept them there but Liverpool needed a win to go back to the top.
Earlier today, my friend Q had asked me how the game would pan out. My response was it would be a Liverpool win or draw. However a Man Utd win would bring me great JOY. I went as far as saying that I would rather Manchester United won today and not qualify for the Champions League come season end, just to end Liverpool’s unbeaten home run which stood at 67 before kick-off. Manchester United too were also riding on the back of 15 games unbeaten away from home so it was always going to be a tough game.
The first half was quite drab if you asked me but the second half was better. Though the game ended in a draw, I thought it was a fair result even though United had the better chances in the game. Alisson Becker in goal for Liverpool surely deserved to be named Man of the Match. He made 2 stops that could have easily been goals in United’s favour.
The front 3 of Liverpool which consist of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohammed Salah were anonymous in the game. These guys were supposed to be Liverpool’s threat at snuffing out a result. The draw means Liverpool slipped to 3rd position while Leicester is in second position after beating Southampton 2:0 last night.
Any hoo, Manchester United remain at the top like the SUN as per the English Premier League.
Tomorrow is another day. Have a fab week ahead!!!
