I was extremely disappointed today by the English National Football team’s performance against Scotland. I am not one to blame coaches so when people say a coach should have started X player or that player, I am quick to first blame the ones that are fielded first.
I mean you are supposed to grab the opportunity given to you and make it yours, but hey since the first game against Croatia I have had to eat my words and expected Jack Grealish should have gotten the nod ahead of Phil Foden or even Raheem Sterling.
Todays 0:0 draw against Scotland showed why Grealish after Kalvin Phillips should be the first name on Gareth Southgate’s starting XI. England should have just taken advantage of the slow Scottish backline.
I think Sterling should have been taken off for Rashford and Dominic Calvert-Lewin for Harry Kane. Injecting more pace into the front line was key and necessary but what do I know. I am just a fan who wanted England to win and booked a 2nd round slot with this game. Anyway, I still see potential in the side, I mean if Arsenal fans can stand by their team then who am I to jump ship?
Again I was disappointed with England’s performance today, I even had punters place bets on England winning. My phone has been buzzing non stop because friends want to take a piss at me. This English team had better come correct in their final group game against the Czech Republic on Tuesday.
